Olde English Tiles has restored many a pub and bar around Sydney and Melbourne to their former glory. Using a combination our in-house glazed and fired Subway Tiles and Federation and Victorian Tiles, we're able to evoke a vintage, nostalgic Australiana heritage look for establishments around the country.

Our heritage pub tiles have been used extensively in places such as The Beresford, Sydney; Harpoon Harry's, Surry Hills; The Windsor, Sydney and many, many others.

The Nyngan Hotel

The Nyngan Hotel, nestled in the heart of Nyngan, NSW has been a part of the community since 1883, standing strong through the years. Now, thanks to a stunning restoration by the Stanton family, it’s welcoming guests with a fresh new look - while keeping its rich history alive.

One of the biggest transformations? Its eye-catching exterior, featuring beautiful hand-glazed porcelain tiles custom-made by Olde English Tiles.

"The original design was going to be coral colours in a similar pattern to this, but we soon discovered that the ceramic tiles we had chosen were not suitable for exterior use so the search began for porcelain tiles." says The Nyngan Hotel owner Emily Stanton.

"This is when I discovered Olde English Tiles who custom made and hand glazed these tiles especially for our job.

These tiles were a significant investment for us, but something we now think was so worth it. One of the main things we wanted to do was make this building stand out from the road, and I certainly think we have done it."

The Enmore Hotel

Ripping up the dirty, smelly carpet in the bar area of this pub in Sydney's Inner West was the beginning of a voyage of discovery. Revealed beneath the sticky, woollen mess was a fragment of mosaic dating from the 1930's.

When designer Killing Matt Woods approached Olde English Tiles for suggestions on what options they had for retiling the area, they little expected that we'd provide them with a complete tiling programme.

We replicated the original Art Deco floor exactly with our Mixed 25 Hexagon pattern customised with 15 elegantly subdued colours.

We also offered an integrated design for the bar fascia executed in colour matching 100x100mm vitrified porcelain.

The result is a fresh take on an Art Deco classic.

Style & Concord ... in Concord.

Built in 1930 in the leafy suburb of Concord West, Hotel Concord was purchased by ex-Wallaby front rower Bill Young, and underwent a major refurbishment in 2009. As one can tell from the facade tiling, great effort was employed to re-capture the original Art Deco spirit.

The designers chose a 150x75mm vanilla base tile with a bevelled edge, a popular format of the era, which has been laid in a brick bond below the frieze tiles, and in a right angle herringbone style above, with a base of 150x75mm Heritage Brown tiles. The multiple decorative bands - the Grafton cap, Rose embossed and flat strip, were all hand glazed by Olde English Tiles at our Sydney plant, in matching Heritage Brown glaze.
