Sully's Rooftop, Queensland

For the rooftop bar at Sully's, Studio Raso Interior Design skipped the expected subway tile. Designer Taryn Raso specified Olde English Tiles' Country Capping for the bar facade — one of the first applications of its kind.

"The bar was designed to be the focal point of the rooftop, so we wanted a finish that felt distinctive and timeless," says Raso. "We were drawn to the Country Capping for its moulded profile and hand-glazed finish — it brought depth, texture and craftsmanship to the design."

The tiles are installed vertically in an offset pattern, reading as a contemporary take on bamboo. It fits the natural material palette and relaxed coastal feel running through the venue. Under the bar lighting, the deep glossy glaze picks up warmth and texture, holding its own against the timber joinery and brass detailing above.

Our Country Capping is usually the finishing touch. Here, it's the hero.
