Olde English Tiles is a family-owned Australian business that supplies and installs heritage tessellated, encaustic, mosaic and glazed wall tiles. Founder Antonino Gaudioso revived the tessellated tile trade more than 50 years ago, growing it from a one-man band into a small team with showrooms and factories in Annandale, Sydney and Richmond, Melbourne.

Tessellated tile supply and installation

We supply and install every tessellated floor we design, using our own team of specialist tessellated tilers. With tessellated tiles, the quality of the laying matters as much as the tiles themselves, and a well-laid floor won't need redoing.

Here's how it works: we visit and assess your verandah, path, hallway or bathroom, design a pattern to suit your home's era and style, prepare the base and lay the floor, then walk through the finished surface with you for a final quality check.

An artisan approach

Handmade tiles from our Sydney & Melbourne factories

We still make tiles by hand in our own Sydney and Melbourne factories. We make tessellated patterns to order, hand-glaze subway tiles and wall accessories in authentic heritage colours, and produce encaustic tiles and custom mosaic patterns locally.

Our core tessellated, mosaic and encaustic range is made by Winckelmans, a fifth-generation family business in northern France. These unglazed porcelain tiles have a full 9mm body, natural matte finish and square edges. They resist staining and scratching and keep their colour for decades, which suits high-traffic verandahs and front paths.
