Though the gentrification of Paddington in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs began way back in the 1960s, there remain some houses that have not yet taken that final step - transforming their humble verandah.
This terrace, in the heart of Paddington, had undergone a thorough renovation, except for the unprepossessing band of concrete that compromised the simple yet stylish facade. The owners needed something that would elevate the space and make a statement - something that respected the heritage of their home, but reflected the times we live in with a contemporary aesthetic.
After an on-site consultation, the clients chose the Fitzroy, a sophisticated and adaptable pattern realised in an equally sophisticated colour palette, combined with a Norwood border.
The challenge in laying a complex pattern in such a confined and awkward space is to achieve that level of craftsmanship and geometric precision that we believe every OET client deserves; no matter how difficult the space there is no room for error. The transformation has been dramatic.
That dull concrete slab is now a genuine statement piece, and the client is delighted with the final result, describing the verandah as a “piece of art.”
