Situated in the vibrant, historic suburb of Newtown is Paisano and Daughters - a new and totally unique dining destination.
Designed by the inimitable Killing Matt Woods and built by Green Anvil Co, they are housed in the grand 1911 heritage-listed H. May Building, which still features original Art Nouveau tiles in the upper level of the facade.
Indeed, it was these original tiles that largely determined the selection of the mosaic and wall tiles for the street-level entrances to each restaurant.
That, and their culinary theme:
- Flora - vegetarian - yellow
- Mister Grotto - seafood - blue
- Continental Deli - charcuterie - red
- Osteria Mucca, formerly a butcher shop and still sporting the original 1911 decorative wall tiles - meat - green.
In each case, we hand-glazed the accent wall tiles in heritage colours to coordinate with our mosaic floors - just another example of our ability to respond to unique and challenging design requirements.
