"This traditional weatherboard worker's cottage in the harbour suburb of Birchgrove has undergone a dramatic metamorphosis both inside and out. The owner chose to gut the original interior and rebuild it to her taste and to make it more responsive to the demands of a modern lifestyle and a young family. She used colours from around the property and incorporated them into the tessellated floor design of the main entrance - the Westminster with Newcastle border. The owner's eye for the telling detail is evident in the light fittings, door furniture, tapware and the pressed metal ceiling. A nice touch in this space is the inclusion of a fireplace featuring the Ribbon Rose decor tile & dusty pink subway tiles. This is an entrance that will continue to impress visitors and take the knocks from boisterous youngsters for many years to come."
